David de Gea has mused on Manchester United’s test against Real Sociedad and paid respect to Tuesday’s opponents.
The fourth group stage match of the Champions League sees pointless Real host United at Anoeta, with the English able to mathematically seal a place in the Last 16 with a result.
“La Real have gone a few years now playing good football,” considered De Gea to reporters pre-match.
“They are at a level among the best in Spain, and we are sure we are going to face some difficulties.
“But it is hard to maintain your level when competing with Barcelona and Real Madrid.
“It is very nice to return to Spain, it is special to play on a field like this. I have played one game here before, I have great fondness.
“It is similar to the ground at Mallorca, but here the fans encourage their team more and I am sure they will push them to play a great game and try to win here.”
