Modric: No fear of Juventus

Luka Modric has reflected on how Real Madrid have respect for Juventus, but that they are not facing them this week with any sense of fear.

Los Blancos, who defeated the Bianconeri two weeks ago, head out to Turin this Tuesday evening for the fourth round of games from the Champions League group phase, with their midfielder in confident in mood.

“We are not afraid of Juventus. They are a great team that we respect, but we are not afraid of them,” Modric has told Madrid’s official website today.

“They have a great squad with great players, and when you play big matches like this you want the best players from the other team to play against you

“How do I prepare for these games? Personally I want to play my best and help my team to win all of the matches and trophies possible.

“I prepare for Champions League matches in the usual way, the same as for a league match. There is not much difference between getting ready for one or the other.”

The creative midfielder was asked of players past and present at Madrid who he admires.

“There are so many great players that have played for Real Madrid… Looking back, there was Di Stefano, Puskas. More recently Raul and Zidane, one of our Coaches. Cristiano, who is the past, present and future of this team.

“They are the players I admire the most, but my hero as a child was Zvonimir Boban. He played more than 10 years at Milan and is one of the best players in Croatian history.

“It is a great honour [to play for Madrid]. This is a great club and we have a squad full of great players, stars and I admire them all. I do not want to mention names. We have so many good players in the team.”
