Pepe Mel has admitted that he is only thinking about Real Betis’ match with Malaga, not their poor start to the season.
The Verdiblancos travel to the Costa del Sol this evening to face the Boquerones, and the Coach has insisted that it doesn’t matter that his men are in the Europa League – they can’t pick up points on reputation alone.
“In football all that matters is the now,” he told a Press conference. “All teams with low points totals are in danger of descending down the table.
“Malaga, according to the table, are a direct competitor of ours, so we’re going to have to be strong if we want to win.
“Two years ago, nobody thought Villarreal could possibly go down to Segunda, but that happened.
“We have come from a good season last time out where we got to Europe, but that does not matter this season. We are not in a comfortable position.”
