Diego Lopez has conceded that Real Madrid ‘suffered’ in their 3-2 win over Rayo Vallecano on Saturday.

Los Blancos led 3-0 thanks to a brace from Cristiano Ronaldo and one from Karim Benzema, but the home team were allowed back into the match when they were awarded two penalties inside two second half minutes.

“The two penalties got them back into the match and we suffered a bit from then,” he told reporters.

“It is a very difficult place to come and score, but we held on. We had moments of playing very good football and we have to keep improving.

“Today was different to the Sevilla match, even if there were two penalties, which it is normal that they score from, but from otherwise we had control.

“We pressed very high but couldn’t put anything together. They played with a lot of intensity and made us suffer.

“This team is going to get out of the trouble they’re in because they play good football and deserve to be much higher up the table.”
