Luis Garcia conceded that Villarreal were superior to his Getafe team on Thursday, but that the Madrid side were decisive when it mattered.
Los Azulones picked up a 2-0 win at El Madrigal thanks to Ciprian Marica’s early effort and Pablo Sarabia’s late one. Pablo Iniguez was also sent off just before the break for the hosts.
“For me, Villarreal are the fourth best team in the League and they have shown that in creating chances despite playing with a man less,” Garcia considered afterwards.
“They have played better than us, but I am happy because we have won, which is important.
“The red card has given us the numerical advantage and that has been good because we were exhausted. Villarrealy were superior to us, but we were successful in the key minutes and with their red card it provoked us to make a great effort.
“The team needs rest and so we played the game that we did in the second half.”
