Holiday postpones Liga bans

The Competition Committee will not meet this Friday due to a public holiday in Spain, meaning players set to serve bans face a week’s reprieve.

Sergio Ramos and David Lopez have picked up fifth bookings of the season during Week 11’s midweek round of action, whilst Stephane Mbia and Miguel de las Cuevas have both been red carded.

However, whilst automatic one-game suspensions for the quartet are meant to be in place for Week 12, the Spanish Football Federation’s Competition Committee will not meet before the weekend to ratify their bans.

The Committee normally meet every Friday, but it is a public holiday in Spain tomorrow, so the players are seen as set for a reprieve, with suspensions only likely to be confirmed for Week 13 instead.
