‘United should’ve scored more’

David Moyes says that Manchester United could and should have defeated Real Sociedad by more than the single goal on Wednesday.

Inigo Martinez’s early own goal proved the difference between the English champions and their Group A opponents at Old Trafford.

“It was job done tonight. We had to win the game and we did so, and it was a good performance,” Moyes considered after the game.

“We could, and should, have scored more, but it was a good victory.

“We had the same on Saturday where we led 1-0 going into the last stages so there was a bit of nervousness around that again, but if we had scored five or six today, it wouldn't have been out of place.

“Wayne Rooney was absolutely terrific. I was shouting at him in the last five minutes, though! We just want a top player like Wayne to play well.

“I said from day one that his training was great. I think England have seen that. But we need to see it all the time. I thought we had some great performances throughout the team tonight.”
