Khedira, Illarra, Modric tested

Real Madrid Coach Carlo Ancelotti has this week trained with a provisional midfield trio of Sami Khedira, Luka Modric and Asier Illarramendi.

Juventus visit the Santiago Bernabeu for matchday three of the Champions League group stage on Wednesday evening before Madrid then head out to face Barcelona in the first Clasico of the season.

Ahead of those tests, indications from training have suggested that Ancelotti is going to try a new midfield central three of Khedira, Modric and Illarramendi.

The Italian recently switched to a 4-3-3 formation and had been using Isco as one of the central three.

However, training this week has seen the former Malaga favourite seemingly dropped out favour.

Ancelotti has for the first time this season been working with a full squad at Madrid, in light of Xabi Alonso’s return to full training yesterday.
