United planning Alexis Sanchez swoop?

Manchester United are planning a move to sign winger Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona, according to Sport.

Reds’ boss David Moyes is reported to be unhappy with the form of Antonio Valencia, Ashley Young and Nani since taking over at Old Trafford in the summer, while it is believed he will have money available to bring in at least three new players in the January transfer window.

Sanchez has had an impressive start to the 2013-14 campaign yet the arrival of Neymar has meant starting opportunities may be hard to come by in Tata Martino’s team this term, so Barca may decide to cash in on the Chilean rather than leave him on the bench.

The Premier League giants tried to sign Sanchez from Udinese in 2011 and are now set to revive their interest, although the player himself could prove the major stumbling block to any transfer.

The 24-year-old is understood to be settled in Barcelona and would likely resist any attempts to tempt him away from the club after just two seasons at the Camp Nou.
