I’ll repay Betis fans says Mel

Real Betis boss Pepe Mel says he will repay the club’s supporters for placing their trust in him.

Los Beticos have had a below par start to the 2013-14 La Liga campaign, losing four of the opening eight games, but Mel insists things will start to improve sooner rather than later.

“I know the Betis fans have absolute confidence in their Coach and I’m not going to allow them to lose that trust.

“I promised at the start of the season that we were going to have a good campaign and that’s what we will do,” he told Betis’ official website.

Madrid-born Mel is hoping the next few fixtures will see his team moving in the right direction, starting with this weekend’s game at home to Elche.

“We are playing against a team that is one point above us so to beat them would put us in a good position in the table.

“The season has only just started and there is plenty of time to put things right, but it’s now time to announce our arrival,” declared Mel, who also had words for injured striker Ruben Castro.

“I have full confidence in the players we have but Ruben will be back soon and when he is we’ll be even stronger.”
