Aspas: Liverpool always going to be tough

Iago Aspas has claimed that he is ready to fight for his place in the Liverpool starting XI after falling out of favour at Anfield.

The Spanish attacker joined the Premier League side from Celta Vigo over the summer, but has found first team opportunities hard to come by following Luis Suarez’s return from suspension.

“When I left Celta I knew it was going to be difficult,” he told reporters. “It was always going to be a tough challenge.”

The forward was back in Vigo to visit his former teammates during the international break, and the 26-year-old has commented on their start to the season.

“I am sure that as soon as they get a run of consecutive wins then everything will be fine.

“It’s hard when there’s a negative dynamic around a club, but I can see that the boys are all coming together.”
