Reports in Spain claim Barcelona midfielder Javier Mascherano could be on the verge of a move to Serie A with Napoli.
According to Mundo Deportivo, the player’s agent Horacio Zandonadi is due to meet Barca directors at the end of next week to present a proposal from the Italian club.
The former Liverpool man has long been linked with a move to the San Paolo, where he would reunite with his former Anfield boss Rafa Benitez, and could be available on a free transfer in January, although he will be ineligible for the Champions League.
The Catalans bought Mascherano for €24m in August 2010 from the Premier League giants and has since been converted into a central defender at the Camp Nou.
