Nolito: We must “destroy” Levante

Celta Vigo winger Nolito says his team must “destroy” Levante in the next La Liga fixture to get their season back on track.

Luis Enrique’s men have gone six games without a victory since the 2-1 away win at Real Betis in August, a situation Nolito admits is worrying.

“Of course we are worried as we’ve gone six matches without winning and that creates doubt.

“However, we are confident in our own ability and I think this team will improve if we continue to play as we have been doing,” he told a Press conference.

The former Barcelona and Benfica man, who spent the latter part of last season on loan at Granada, believes the home fixture with Levante after the international break will be crucial for the Galicians.

“I think we are capable of beating anybody, although it’s also true that if we don’t play to our maximum then anybody can beat us, so we have to destroy Levante in our next game,” he declared.

Nolito is hoping this week’s break will allow the Celestes to correct the ‘small details’ that, in his opinion, stopped them from taking at least a point away from the Vicente Calderon in last weekend’s 2-1 loss to Atletico Madrid.

“I think we deserved at least a draw and we have to be satisfied despite the defeat as after five minutes of the second half we played at a good level.

“The first half belonged to Atletico, a team that has title aspirations, and the second was ours,” insisted Nolito, who came on as a substitute and scored Celta’s first goal in more than 300 minutes of football.

“I like to play but there is no problem if the boss decides to pick somebody else. Perhaps I’ve not been at my best but the Coach is in charge.

“He knows what I can bring to the team so I think he’ll get the best out of me,” he claimed.
