Cristian Tello has admitted to being aware of interest this summer from Liverpool, but says he never considered leaving Barcelona.
The 22-year-old this summer penned a second contract inside a matter of months, to extend his stay with the Catalans to June 2018 and bump up his buyout clause once more.
Increasing the release clause up to a flat €25m was seen as Barca’s response to a number of clubs being linked with the winger.
One said to be interested was Liverpool, and this has now been confirmed by the player.
“I knew that Liverpool were interested in me, but I never thought about leaving,” Tello is quoted in Sport as saying.
“I always wanted to be here.
“The manager has confidence in me, I am happy and I am ready to play.”
