‘Javi Gracia has clear ideas’

Manuel Jesus Ortiz, Lolo, has reflected on the change of Coach at Osasuna and on the players’ ambition to put Javi Gracia’s work into practice now.

The Pamplona side dispensed with Jose Luis Mendilibar at the start of the international break, having begun the season with three consecutive defeats.

Gracia has been brought in as his replacement and according to one of the team’s defenders just back from injury, has a fresh perspective.

“At this point, no-one expected us to be in this situation,” began Lolo in consideration of the team’s managerial shift and being bottom of the League.

“The start has not been good and everything has ended in Mendi’s departure, which has been a hard blow to the dressing room. But that’s football.

“We must recharge our batteries for the new Coach. We need to start picking up points. Javi has pretty clear ideas and now it is down to the players to carry those out on the field.”

Osasuna have a first opportunity to do so this Sunday afternoon away to Getafe.

“Neither team has begun the season well but there is still a long way to go.

“The team is certainly going to give more and I hope that positive results will come along as soon as possible so that the team can take confidence.

“We want that the new concepts of our Coach are reflected on Sunday.”
