Osasuna confirm Javi Gracia

Osasuna have brought in Javi Gracia as their new Coach, to replace the sacked Jose Luis Mendilibar.

The Pamplona outfit confirmed Mendilibar’s removal after two-and-a-half years on Tuesday and have acted quickly to appoint his successor.

In has come former Real Sociedad and Villarreal midfielder Gracia for his first go at top-flight management in Spain.

The 43-year-old, who was the early favourite to succeed Mendilibar, began his coaching career with Villarreal’s youth team almost a decade ago before gaining experience of lower League football with Pontevedra, Cadiz and the Yellow Submarine’s B team.

On from a spells in Greece with Olympiakos Volou and then Kerkyra, Garcia caught the attention in a single season last term with Almeria, helping the team to promotion, before being replaced for this term by Francisco Rodriguez.

Osasuna have confirmed his appointment through their official website and have signed the tactician to a two-year contract.
