Ronaldo: Neymar will learn at Barca

Ronaldo Nazario de Lima sees the benefit to Neymar playing this year at Barcelona and he has wished Gareth Bale good luck at Real Madrid.

The 36-year-old retired Brazilian international has reflected this week on his young compatriot’s chances in Catalonia this season of emulating Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in La Liga.

“I think we are going to continue talking about Messi and Cristiano, because with Neymar we will have to wait,” mused Ronaldo in conversation with Europa Press.

“He is a young player, but he will learn and will become one of the best too.

“Neymar will learn a lot with Barca, with Messi, with European football and it comes in handy for there to be lots of Brazilians playing in Europe.

“And, although it will be difficult at first, in the long run for Neymar it will be very good.”

Gareth Bale yesterday was presented as a Real Madrid player and Ronaldo, who spent four-and-a-half years at the Santiago Bernabeu, welcomed his arrival.

“I wish him luck and I hope that he succeeds at Real Madrid, it is not easy to succeed at a club like Real Madrid, I wish him luck and that he scores many goals.”

Ronaldo also spoke with Cadena SER on the 24-year-old: “I have not seen him play much.

“If he does not play well then certainly people will say that they have paid a lot of money and that he is not worth it.

“I would advise him to think only about football.”

The former striker, capped 98 times by his country, had notable spells in both Spain and Italy, and believes that his best

“At Real Madrid I enjoyed my best moments. Although I had a fantastic year at Barcelona, I went to Inter fighting against the direction of Barcelona. In Spain I had my best years.

“I always dreamed of being a player, I have devoted my life to football and I am very happy with what I have achieved in football. It has given me everything that I have, it has taught me a lot.

“I have never thought about being the best, but I wanted that, I wanted to be the best I could be, to improve every day and I am happy with what I have achieved.”
