Sami Khedira has confirmed that Manchester United made an offer for him, as he also reflects on Mesut Ozil’s exit from Real Madrid.
There were late rumours on the final day of the transfer window that United had enquired after the 25-year-old’s availability, only to be turned down by Madrid.
“The club rejected the offer and that was it,” Khedira confirmed to reporters today. “We didn’t get a chance to really discuss it.
“I had a long talk with Ancelotti a few weeks ago and he was very clear with me, I would be staying in Madrid.”
Khedira’s compatriot Ozil, though, did leave the Santiago Bernabeu yesterday.
“For me it was no surprise. Two or three days ago Mesut informed me of his plans.
“We are very good friends. It may also be a loss in sporting terms for Real Madrid. But in the end it was the personal decision of Mesut to want to leave Real Madrid.”
