Monterrey have reportedly accepted Valencia’s terms on the transfer of striker Dorlan Pabon, avoiding possible litigation with FIFA.
Los Che transferred over to the Mexican club a fee of $10m, around €7.5m, earlier this week to activate a buyout clause in the Colombian striker’s contract.
Whilst the player quickly passed a medical and has reportedly signed off on a four-year contract, Monterrey were revealed by President Amadeo Salvo as still holding up completion of the transfer.
The Mexicans, who only agreed a deal to sign Pabon in January from Parma, and only saw him arrive after a six-month loan spell in La Liga with Real Betis, were reportedly pushing that the buyout clause was an after tax figure, rather than pre-tax.
However, Superdeporte understand that, with Los Che threatening to involve FIFA in proceedings, Monterrey have accepted terms.
Pabon is expected to fly out to Valencia in the coming days to formally complete his transfer, after resolving bureaucratic issues in Colombia.
Valencia’s deal for the 25-year-old includes 50 per cent investment from the Doyen group.
