‘No influence in Martino choice’

Jorge Messi has once more commented that he and his son Lionel Messi did not influence Barcelona’s choice of Tata Martino as Coach.

In light of Tito Vilanova stepping down in the summer due to ill health, the Catalans turned to former the Newell’s Old Boys Coach as replacement, in a move that sections of the Spanish Press continue to speculate was influenced by the Messis.

“Beyond the fact that we know Tata Martino, it was not us who decided who would be Coach of Barcelona,” Messi senior commented on Cadena SER, before reflecting on Neymar’s arrival at the club.

“We are very excited and we hope that the team becomes stronger with Neymar up front.

“Cruyff suggesting that Messi should be sold to make way for Neymar? Everyone can think what they want.

“He knows a lot, but he has not affected us.”
