Liverpool agree Cissokho deal

Liverpool have agreed in principle to sign Valencia defender Aly Cissokho on a season-long loan with a view to a permanent deal.

The French international left-back said last week he had agreed personal terms with the Premier League side and was just waiting for the two clubs to thrash out an agreement.

Liverpool were believed to prefer a loan arrangement, while the Spaniards wanted to sell the player, but according to The Telegraph an agreement has now been reached.

Reds’ boss Brendan Rodgers has been looking for reinforcements at left-back, with Jose Enrique his only senior player in that position, and sees Cissokho as an ideal option to provide cover.

The 25-year-old, who numbers Gueugnon, Vitoria Setubal, Porto and Lyon among his former clubs, is expected to travel to Merseyside next week to undergo a medical and put pen to paper.
