Lionel Messi will not play in Argentina’s friendly match against Italy in Rome on Wednesday evening.
The goalscorer pulled up in Barcelona’s Asian tour last week, and was a doubt for the game at Stadio Olimpico.
And this afternoon it has been confirmed that the 26-year-old will not play in the game, and will travel back to the Catalan capital this evening.
Messi is expected to be fit for the opening Liga game against Levante on Sunday.
