Ramos: Victory over Chelsea positive

Sergio Ramos asserted Real Madrid’s 3-1 International Champions Cup defeat of Chelsea
was a positive sign for Carlo Ancelotti’s team.

“Winning this tournament is good mentally and gives us confidence, so that is something positive to take out of it. Now we are going to get ready for the start of La Liga,” declared the Spanish international in comments reported by Madrid’s official website.

“Everyone draws conclusions and ours are positive. We played against a team that always makes things difficult physically.

“We know the Coach they have and what he asks of them, but you saw an eager Real Madrid with a strong dynamic and the result was fully deserved.”

Ramos also commented on Cristiano Ronaldo, who already has five goals under his belt in pre-season and was named Player of the Tournament.

“Cristiano hasn’t surprised us because he always gives his all for this team. We are glad he has reached his best level because Real Madrid is based on players like him.”

Finally, the defender responded to questions about former boss Jose Mourinho.

“It’s just something you [the Press] make of it. We go out to give our maximum against any team, not because Mourinho coaches them or that it’s Chelsea. We always do the best we can.

“I have not met him at the moment but he has greeted the rest of the coaching staff. I don’t bear a grudge, that’s for losers,” he insisted.
