Cruyff: Martino decision was rushed

Barcelona legend Johan Cruyff believes that Tata Martino's appointment as Coach was 'done in a hurry'.

The Argentine tactician was named as successor to Tito Vilanova following the Spaniard's cancer relapse.

And the former forward has claimed that things were rushed, but admits that the new man needs time to bed in.

“I do not know,” he told Peruvian newspaper El Comercio. “At least give him the benefit of the doubt.

“He's coached before.

“But Tito was sick, and everything seemed to be done in a hurry.

“Things have been done without much preparation and decisions have been made in a hurry.”

The ex-Netherlands international then commented on remarks he made earlier this summer, criticising Neymar's arrival at Camp Nou.

“I said that two captains on a ship often bring problems.

“But if the board makes a decision, it must be respected.

“I'm just making an observation.

“You might have expected Neymar to join in a few years when Messi was a bit older.

“Don't forget that at 21 you have not developed fully.”
