‘Cesc would make United stronger’

David de Gea has asserted that signing Barcelona’s Cesc Fabregas would help his Manchester United team improve.

Fabregas is continually being linked with a return to the Premier League this summer, with the current champions said to be now lining up a third bid for the 26-year-old.

For the English side’s current Spaniard, it is a move worth pursuing.

“He will take the decision as to whether or not to sign with us,” De Gea commented in conversation with Marca.

“He would be a great signing, he would help us to improve.”

De Gea was known as having spoken to Thiago Alcantara about him moving across to Manchester this summer too.

“Yes, I tried to convince him, but it could not be. He would have been a great signing.

“He has opted for Bayern, who are a very good club, and I’m sure he will do very well.”

The 22-year-old won the UEFA Under-21 Championship alongside Thiago this summer, to close his time with La Rojita.

“I'm very pleased, but also sad. I left having won the European Under-21s Championship twice, but closing that chapter saddens me due to the many people I'd grown close to.

De Gea was asked his opinion on the continuing movement of Spanish playing talent from La Liga into the Premier League.

“It's the best organised League. Everything is well organised on every level, even financially. You can see this; the players know it. It's a very attractive league and I like it a lot.

“The grounds are full for most games. It's normal that Spaniards should want to come here.

“It's important that there are more Spaniards so that the Premier League is followed more in Spain.”
