Argentina list Primera six

Argentina have named six Primera Division-based stars in their squad to play Italy next month in Rome.

The Albiceleste face the Azzurri at the Stadio Olimpico in August in a friendly arranged to honour Pope Francis, who is due to attend.

In the squad picked are six names from La Liga, including Barcelona duo Lionel Messi and Javier Mascherano, Real Madrid’s Angel di Maria, Valencia’s Ever Banega, Celta Vigo’s Augusto Fernandez, Almeria’s new signing Oscar Ustari.

Defenders: Hugo Campagnaro (Inter), Federico Fernandez (Napoli), Ezequiel Garay (Benfica), Marcos Rojo (Sporting Lisbon), Pablo Zabaleta (Manchester City), Fabricio Coloccini (Newcastle), Cristian Ansaldi (Rubin Kazan), Jose Maria Basanta (Monterrey).

Midfielders: Javier Mascherano (Barcelona), Angel Di Maria (Real Madrid), Augusto Fernandez (Celta), Ricardo Alvarez (Inter), Lucas Biglia (Lazio), Erik Lamela (Roma), Ever Banega (Valencia).

Forwards: Lionel Messi (Barcelona), Rodrigo Palacio (Inter), Gonzalo Higuain (Napoli), Ezequiel Lavezzi (Paris Saint-Germain).
