Guardado encourages Chicharito link

Andres Guardado has enthused at the prospect of linking up with Mexican colleague Javier Hernandez at Valencia this summer.

The Manchester United striker has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford this summer and Los Che are listed in reports this week as the latest side from La Liga eyeing his signature.

Valencia are rumoured to be considering an initial loan bid to bring in the forward should Roberto Soldado depart and have received a thumbs up from their winger.

“He is a great finisher, a great striker, a goalscorer. Everyone knows him,” Guardado told reporters this week.

“It would be interesting if we could get him, regardless of the fact he is a teammate of mine with the Mexico side.

“He has proven his quality at Manchester United and it is something that he is there.”

This summer it seemed that Guardado would welcome another Mexican colleague to Mestalla in the form of Giovani dos Santos, only for the attacker to join Villarreal.

“While we were at the Confederations Cup I know that there was some contact with him from the club and I know that they were close to signing him, but after the Confederations I learned through the news that he had signed for Villarreal.

“I have not had the opportunity to talk to him to find out what happened.”

Any deal for Hernandez to sign from United looks likely to hinge on whether Soldado stays with Los Che or not. Tottenham and Liverpool are both continually being linked with the striker.

“He is our goleador and is an important part of this team. I have not spoken to him since the Confederations Cup, whilst I do not know if he will be here or not, that’s not something I can determine.

“But I wish him the best wherever he is, and if it is here than all the better because Soldado is a great player, our goleador and an important part of this team.”

Guardado was asked of preseason preparations for the team, which have come under new Coach Miroslav Djukic.

“It is still too early to make an analysis or talk about the differences between Djukic and Valverde or Pellegrino, since we have only had a few days of training.

“But he seems very involved, he has very clear ideas, he loves to play with the ball and gives us that peace of mind to play well with it and also to move forward on the pitch a lot, to attack a lot and not to just beat the ball around.”
