Xabi Alonso is reportedly on track for a return to first team availability for Real Madrid by the start of October.
The midfielder underwent surgery on a troublesome groin injury in June, skipping Spain’s Confederations Cup campaign in the process.
The procedure initially ruled him out for a three-to-four period, with mid-September seen as the earliest likely return date.
On from the 31-year-old working at Valdebebas this week, including a brief session on the field with his teammates, it is believed that Madrid have now been given a more accurate idea of his recovery.
Reportedly having seen the injury calcify, the 31-year-old’s attempts to return elasticity to the muscle will ensure his return will come no earlier than October.
