Spurs to double Bale’s wage

Tottenham are reportedly ready to try and fend off increased interest in Gareth Bale by doubling his salary at the club.

The Welshman has been increasingly linked with a move away from White Hart Lane this summer, with Real Madrid reportedly in competition for the 24-year-old’s signature with a number of Premier League sides, Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco.

Alongside reports in England today that Manchester United are preparing to launch a €70m assault, it is believed that Spurs are looking to offer their own temptation to the former Southampton man.

It is understood that Tottenham, who only signed Bale to a new £75,000, €87,500-a-week contract last year, will offer him a £150,000, €170,000 salary to make him one of the best paid players in England.

Meanwhile, AS report that Florentino Perez intends to use Madrid’s trip out to the country this coming weekend to play Bournemouth as an opportunity to initiate contact with Bale’s representatives.
