Morata: I want to stay

Alvaro Morata has rejected talk of a move away from Real Madrid this summer, insisting his determination is to stay and play.

The young striker has been reported as this week turning down a move to Sevilla, whilst links in the English media suggest that Liverpool are also on his tracks.

However, taking today’s Press conference, the 20-year-old reiterated his desire to make it at the Santiago Bernabeu.

“I’m training well and want to stay in Madrid,” affirmed Morata to reporters.

“And the club and Coach want me to stay.

“I do not have to turn down any offers because I have not received any. I just want to play here.

“It is important to receive minutes and to score goals.

“And the more minutes you get, the more chances you will score.”

The youngster was asked of the speculation surrounding current strike-partners Gonzalo Higuain and Cristiano Ronaldo.

“Higuain? It is up to the club, but I see Pipa with the same enthusiasm as always. Jese and I will be fighting to play.

“Cristiano? I do not imagine that he will leave. He is the best in the world and has to be on the best team in the world. I am a fan of his.”

Morata has seen Under-21 colleagues Dani Carvajal, Isco and Asier Illarramendi join him in the first team.

“The club have committed to Spanish players and, added to those that were already here, we have a very good squad.

“We can perform at a high level and we are gradually becoming a great group.

“Ancelotti’s early work?  He wants us to take good care of the ball, play very fast and try to create our own style of playing.”
