Barca devise fitness plan for Neymar

Barcelona want new signing Neymar to be in the best physical shape for the new season and have devised a personal fitness regime for him.

Club doctor Daniel Medina has worked out a plan to get the Brazilian youngster fighting fit for his first day at the club, with the priorities being rest and trying to put on some weight, reports Marca.

Barca’s medical staff estimate he needs to put on between three and five kilos, although the first thing the 21-year-old must do is recover over the next 10 days from having his tonsils out as well as a reconstruction of his nasal septum.

It is believed that Neymar has been advised during his break to take up aerobic exercises that allow him to keep fit, such as tennis, cycling, golf, swimming and running in the mountains.

For the final week before July 29, his first day with Barca, it has been recommended he go to a gym where the aim will be for him to put on muscle tissue, particularly around the arms and chest.

The final item on the list will be to do with diet, with a series of nutritional suggestions meaning he has been encouraged to eat plenty of carbohydrates like pasta to build up his physique.
