Barcelona’s new signing Neymar has left hospital after successfully undergoing surgery to remove his tonsils and clear a nasal passage.
A report in the Folha de Sao Paulo newspaper claims the Brazilian striker was discharged from Rio de Janeiro’s Sao Vicente clinic on Sunday after it was previously assumed he would leave on Saturday.
However, head of surgery Augusto Cesar Lima, who is also a member of the Brazilian Football Confederation’s medical team, preferred him to remain hospitalised and under observation for a further 24 hours.
Neymar was admitted on Friday and a statement from the clinic said that his recovery ‘is in line with what was previously predicted’.
The 21-year-old is expected to make his Barca debut on August 2 in a friendly against former club Santos.
