Barcelona defender Jordi Alba has gone into hospital today to undergo a routine throat operation.
The Spain international has suffered from repeat tonsillitis over the past few years, and has this Friday gone to University Hospital Mutua Terrassa in Catalonia to fix the problem.
Brazil international and new teammate has also had the same procedure, but back home in Rio.
Alba is expected to be out of action for 10 days.
