Madrid to keep Diego Lopez

Reports today are that Real Madrid’s strategy with their goalkeepers for next term includes keeping hold of Diego Lopez.

With Jose Mourinho’s departure as Coach and Iker Casillas’ expected subsequent return to first-team competition, reports have been growing that Lopez was keen to leave the Santiago Bernabeu for a second time.

The 31-year-old returned to the club in January and during Mourinho’s final six months in charge, played as Los Blancos’ first choice in League, Cup and European outings.

It was seen, though, that the former Villarreal man was angling for an exit this summer in anticipation of falling behind Casillas in the pecking order under the team’s as-yet-unconfirmed next Coach.

However, with Antonio Adan publicly beating him to the punch, Marca report that Madrid are keen to keep hold of Lopez, as they work out Adan’s departure.
