Iniesta wants Champions League revenge

Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta is targeting Champions League revenge next season.

The Spain international believes the arrival of Neymar and Tito Vilanova’s return to full coaching duties after his health scare will give the Catalans a greater chance of winning Europe’s premier competition.

La Blaugrana suffered an embarrassing 7-0 aggregate semi-final defeat to Bayern Munich in the competition last season, but Iniesta maintains things could be different next year.

“There will be changes because that needs to happen every year for us to compete at the highest level.

“Next year we won’t get to the semi-finals of the Champions League without competition for places. We will try to take our revenge,” insisted Iniesta in an interview with Cuatro.

“I feel happy at having finished the season and things have more or less gone well. You can’t look at it just by the goals you scored or the ones you created because there is so much more in a game.

“My aim was basically to finish the season and to think I did better than the previous one.”
