Messi given medical all clear

Barcelona have given Lionel Messi the medical all clear today, releasing him to possibly feature for Argentina tonight.

Alejandro Sabella’s side are up against Colombia in a 2014 World Cup qualifier in Buenos Aires this Friday evening aware that will place them on the brink of securing qualification.

La Albiceleste mathematically need four more points from the South American qualifcation section to ensure their place at next year’s tournament hosted by rivals Brazil.

Messi, who has been recovering since pulling a thigh muscle at the start of April in action against Paris Saint-Germain and then aggravating it in mid-May against Atletico Madrid, has been confirmed by Barcelona today as having received medical clearance.

The 25-year-old had flown out to join his international teammates, but up until today it was unclear what his involvement would be.
