Athletic Bilbao have confirmed that a friendly against a Biscay select XI on June 5 will mark the farewell to the San Mames stadium.
Athletic are moving in the summer to the San Mames Barria, their new ground which has been constructed next door, bringing to an end almost exactly 100 years of history for the club at San Mames.
Club President Josu Urrutia and Biscayan Football Federation (FVF) President Jose Ignacio Gomez Mardones confirmed that a game between Athletic and a Biscay select XI will be played on June 5.
Also marking the centenary celebrations for the FVF, the friendly will mark the Basque Country club’s farewell to San Mames.
This weekend sees the final competitive game played at the stadium, when Athletic entertain Levante in Week 37 of La Liga.
