Bayern’s ‘dream come true’

Daniel van Buyten commented that defeating Barcelona 7-0 on aggregate was Bayern Munich’s ‘dream come true’.

The Germans can look ahead to the Champions League Final thanks to an imposing win against Barca across the two legs of their semi-final.

Arjen Robben, a Gerard Pique own-goal and Thomas Muller ensured a 3-0 second leg win for Bayern at the Camp Nou this week.

“This is great. I guess not everybody believed we could do this but we are proud to have won this tie so well and to have scored seven goals across the two matches – you can call it a dream come true for us,” centre-back Van Buyten told reporters afterwards.

“Also, I'd say that we are proud to have shown so clearly that Bayern play football which is very attractive but also very effective.

“The fact that we face a German rival at Wembley is more difficult for us, I think.

“I know that a lot of people probably doubted Dortmund before their tie with Real Madrid but look how strongly they won that semi-final – it emphasises what a tough rival they will be.

“It's going to be a hard final for us.”
