Alves: Congratulations Bayern

Dani Alves conceded that Barcelona were simply outclassed by a more clinical side in Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

Barca were defeated 3-0 in the semi-final second leg on Wednesday evening for a 7-0 aggregate loss, thanks to goals from Arjen Robben and Thomas Muller either side of a Gerard Pique own goal.

“Bayern were better than us throughout the tie. The only thing left for us is simply to salute them and congratulate them,” Alves told UEFA’s official website post-match.

“Bayern have a great team. It's just another indication that this great tournament continuously makes you face the most powerful rivals.

“We played with a lot of intensity tonight but we didn't score and that's been the difference in this leg. They had their chances and they took them clinically.

“Now we have a very important prize left to win, the League.

“It's important to put that to bed as quickly as possible, then it will be time to reflect on how we need to improve in order to have one more chance to win this terrific competition.”
