Cuenca after Ajax extension

Isaac Cuenca has revealed that Barcelona and Ajax are discussing extending his loan stay with the Dutch side for another year, at his request.

The winger moved across to Ajax in January after recovering that month from corrective knee surgery undergone the previous summer.

With his stay set to end in June, the recently-turned 22-year-old has requested that he stays with the Dutch outfit for another year.

“I would like to follow on for another year at Ajax. Barcelona know what I want and both clubs are talking,” Cuenca told De Telegraaf today.

“I’m in good form. Their playing style is similar to Barca’s and to stay one more year playing and training with Frank de Boer would be nice to keep growing.

“Due to my injury I have not played much, but next season I want to be important.”
