Vilanova, Zubizarreta plan 2013-14

Barcelona’s Coach Tito Vilanova and sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta met yesterday to discuss the club’s transfer philosophy for next season.

The club have been heavily linked with moves in the coming summer market for a goalkeeper to replace Victor Valdes, a centre-back to reinforce the defence and Brazilian talent Neymar for attack.

Mundo Deportivo report that now is the time that Vilanova and Zubizarreta are making their decisions on all transfer moves possible, so as to shape the playing squad for next season.

The duo reportedly met yesterday to begin considering options and are understood to then meet with President Sandro Rosell, Vice-President Josep Maria Bartomeu and sporting directors Narcis Julia and Albert Valentin.

It is seen that the club want to make clear as soon as possible their preferred list of targets to bring in for next term. Vicente Guaita is thought to be the club’s first choice goalkeeper to recruit.

As well as the defender Barca are expected to look for, Vilanova is understood to have asked for an alternative option to Xavi Hernandez in midfield as well as one or two strikers, depending on the feasibility of Neymar’s signing.
