United scout assesses Falcao

Manchester United are believed to have sent their chief scout out to Spain this weekend to watch Atletico Madrid forward Radamel Falcao.

Both The Times and Guardian have it that the Red Devils sent Jim Lawlor out to the Vicente Calderon for Sunday evening’s match between Atleti and Granada, that finished 5-0 to the home side, with Falcao netting twice.

United have been linked in the past week with making a move for the 27-year-old Colombian to the tune of a €55m transfer, with Javier Hernandez rumoured in some quarters to be used as a makeweight.

Sir Alex Ferguson had laughed off speculation of swapping Hernandez and cash for Falcao, but Lawlor’s presence in the Spanish capital has speculation continuing today.
