Barca-Bayern, Madrid-Dortmund semis

A Clasico Champions League Final remains on the cards as Barcelona and Real Madrid have been kept apart in the semi-final draw.

Barcelona have been drawn against Bayern Munich, whilst Madrid have been paired in today’s draw with Borussia Dortmund.

Barca, who defeated Paris Saint-Germain in the quarter-finals on away goals, will come up against newly-crowned Bundesliga champions Bayern for the fourth time in European competition and the third in the Champions League.

The two sides last crossed swords in the 2008-09 Champions League quarter-finals, when Barca ran out 5-1 winners on aggregate.

This tie also holds a subplot for being a meeting between Pep Guardiola’s past and future clubs, with the Barca tactician from 2008 to 2012 set to take over at the Bavarians in the summer.

Meanwhile, Madrid, who eliminated Galatasaray this week, face a reunion with Group D opponents Dortmund, in what will be the two sides’ fourth pairing overall in the Champions League.

Los Blancos have the stronger record, with three wins from the six games played, but Dortmund, who defeated Malaga in stoppage time this week, picked up a win at home and draw away to the Spanish in this year’s group stages.

Both Barca and Madrid will play the first legs away from home and the second legs back in Spain, with first legs set to be played on April 23 and 24 and the second legs on April 30 and May 1. This year’s final will be held at Wembley, London.
