Terim: Miracles do exist

Fatih Terim has declared that Galatasaray will play to defeat Real Madrid tonight with an eye on the semi-finals because ‘miracles do exist’.

The Turks play host tonight in the second leg of this Champions League quarter-final with a 3-0 deficit to try and turn around.

“Miracles do exist and we’re going to try to make them come true,” promised Terim at his pre-match conference.

“Real Madrid is Europe’s most successful club and making it to this playoff is proof of where we’re at. We’re prepared to play and win this type of match.

“We will play with courage. We are one of the best teams in Europe and we will show that we deserve to be up against an opponent like Madrid. Let’s play with passion.

“I do not know what will happen in the game, the team will play well and try to advance to the semi-finals.

“We will not give up, we are not thinking of next season in the competition. It is very difficult but everything is possible.”

It will have to be without the help of Burak Yilmaz though, after UEFA rejected Gala’s appeal on his suspension-activating yellow card picked up in the first leg.

“That’s life. We expected a penalty in favour after the play with Sergio Ramos and instead we got a yellow card and lost one of our best players for the second leg.

“We were hoping to get a different result from this penalty and then we would be closer to Real Madrid in the playoff.

“Mourinho says the tie isn’t over? The squad played a difficult game last Saturday after a comeback at home and we’re trying to prepare for tomorrow’s match.

“Mourinho’s answer is very correct for a Coach that doesn’t want his team to lose the playoff.”
