Real Madrid legend Alfredo di Stefano has been admitted to hospital today, but reportedly only for a routine procedure.

The 86-year-old, who is Los Blancos’ honorary President, was fitted with a pacemaker in 2005 after suffering a heart attack.

Reports in Spain today say that the former forward is in the Hospital La Fe in Valencia for the next two days so as to have the battery in this pacemaker replaced.

Di Stefano spent 11 years as a player at the Santiago Bernabeu during the 1950s and 1960s, before returning in the 1980s and again in the 1990s for two stints as Coach.

The Argentine has also managed Valencia in three separate spells, as well as Rayo Vallecano.
