Alonso: We’ll try to win every game

Xabi Alonso has reflected on Real Madrid’s ambition to do their best in the League this term, and on what most fans have asked him for.

The midfielder attended the Santiago Bernabeu club shop yesterday evening to sign autographs for supporters.

“It has been a really fun afternoon with the people who came to get their shirts signed,” reflected Alonso to reporters.

“The thing most of them have said is that we have to go for our 10th Champions League.

“Here at Madrid we are all looking forward to the Champions League, and to be able to make the final.

“But before that there are still several stages and Wednesday is the first, playing at home [against Galatasaray in the quarter-finals].

“We want to get a good result and I am sure it will be a good game with a great atmosphere.”

Madrid first of all head into League action on Saturday evening, with a trip to Real Zaragoza.

“Our situation in La Liga is not ideal, but we have to carry on like this, doing things right and trying to win every match.

“Zaragoza are having problems, they are on a bad run. Any trip to any stadium is difficult and I do not think that this will be easy.”
