Drogba to peak for Madrid

Didier Drogba is reportedly on a specialised fitness regime at Galatasaray in an attempt to reach peak condition against Real Madrid.

The Ivory Coast international went through over two months of inactivity mid-season, from leaving Shanghai Shenhua in late November to signing for the Turkish club in early February.

With only a handful of appearances for his national team in January’s Africa Cup of Nations, the 35-year-old has reportedly been placed on a pre-season-style training programme with an eye to specifically reaching peak condition in time for next month’s Champions League quarter-finals with Real Madrid.

Drogba, who won the Champions League last year with Chelsea and previously worked at the London club with Jose Mourinho, has so far played seven times for Galatasaray and scored once.
