Eric Abidal has taken part in his first game in over a year today, running out for Barcelona B’s team in a friendly.
The Frenchman has been training with Barcelona again since the end of 2012 and received the all clear to resume his playing career in February, following on from undergoing a liver transplant in April 2012.
With the international break seeing 18 members of the first-team squad absent for training, Abidal and Jonathan dos Santos are working with the Barca B unit and both played in a friendly arranged on Tuesday morning against French Ligue 2 side Istres.
Abidal's appearance is his first action on a football pitch for over year.
