Mel: Valencia could destroy us

Real Betis boss Pepe Mel has admitted that his side could be 'destroyed' by Valencia as the two face each other on Saturday.

The Verdiblancos travel to the Mestalla to face Los Che tomorrow evening, and the 50-year-old has warned his men that Ernesto Valverde's side pose a real threat.

“This is an important game for us,” he told a Press conference. “It is a new challenge against a great rival.

“It will be played a tough place against a team that has just been eliminated from the Champions League – there are a thousand reasons why they should be in the top four.

“Obviously, we want to fight for a place in Europe ourselves. It would be the biggest prize for the Betis fans.

“But I have to say how much respect and admiration I have for Valencia.

“If we're not strong tomorrow, then could destroy us.”
