Javi Lopez has reflected that Espanyol’s turnaround in form is down to the impact their fans have at Cornella-El Prat.
Since Javier Aguirre’s arrival, the Catalans have jumped out of the relegation battle and head into the weekend’s home match with Real Valladolid in 13th position.
For winger Lopez, the reason for the improvement is the team’s home stadium, where they have recorded five wins on the bounce.
“Cornella is key. With the help of our fans we can do many things. We have had several days winning at home and we want to keep it that way and make up for the defeat against Atletico last weekend.
“Valladolid are coming into this off the back of a win and they are a team that is playing pretty good football. We are positive that we can make things difficult, though.
“Can we get into Europe? We need to focus. We had a very hard and difficult start and now we cannot think about that.
“We cannot forget that we have come from a critical situation.”
